The Wall Street Journal wrote “U.S. Will Admit 100,000 Refugees Fleeing Ukraine, White House Says”
And WSJ also posted “Ukrainian Refugees Find Easier Path to Enter U.S. at the Mexican Border”
Europe suffered a dramatic crisis of refugees when Germany and others received massive waves of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq in the last two decades.
The United States is opening doors in a similar way for the refugees of the current war in Ukraine.
When a government offers homes to people pushed out for their countries due to wars and humanitarian crises, it is necessary to define serious refugee programs.
In the current case, the United States has to evaluate the culture, language and health conditions (Covid + other diseases) of the new refugees plus the legal documents that demonstrate they are legal refugees. Next factor is the costs this program implies.
Has President Biden evaluated all these factors before he declared that the U.S. will receive 100,000 Ukrainians?
My opinion that I posted in the WSJ Online section is: “We must only accept refugees that come with legal papers and under the special refugee programs. No more illegals, or criminals with dresses of angels!”
If the White House doesn’t act carefully, we will suffer a new big crisis, probably worse than Germany and other European countries suffered recently.
