RETHINKING - OCTOBER 29, 2022 - PURGE AT TWITTER

Twitter, the second most important platform of social-media  in the United States, was bought by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, who immediately started a big purge of executives.

About this operation, The Wall Street Journal posted today:

"Elon Musk fired several Twitter Inc. executives after completing his takeover of the company, according to people familiar with the matter, capping an unusual corporate battle and setting up one of the world’s most influential social-media platforms for potentially broad change."

"Mr. Musk fired Chief Executive Parag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal after the deal closed, the people said. Mr. Musk also fired Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s top legal and policy executive, and Sean Edgett, general counsel. Spokespeople for Twitter didn’t comment."

My blog comment : Will this big purge be positive for Twitter or the start of its walk to the cemetery?

RETHINKING - OCTOBER 14TH, 2022 - THE ENDGAME

Today, October 14th, 2022, The Wall Street Journal posted a very special analysis about the ideas, thinking and plans of China's President Xi. ("Xi Jinping’s Endgame: A China Prepared for Conflict with the U.S." written by By Jonathan Cheng.)

These are two important paragraphs of this analysis:

1) "Since rising to power a decade ago, Xi Jinping has unleashed an array of campaigns to help ensure that China would prevail in, or at least withstand, a confrontation with the West. He has bolstered China’s military, reorganized the economy and remade society around a more ideologically committed Communist Party."

2) "His approach could be summed up in a favorite aphorism of Mao Zedong that Mr. Xi has invoked, warning against a lack of vigilance, according to people familiar with the matter: 'Don’t fight unsure wars, and don’t fight unprepared battles.'"

MY BLOG COMMENTS:

1) Who believe in Chinese friendship are naive.

2) Despite his smile, China's President Xi never was our friend. He and Vladimir Putin are two of the worst enemies of America.

3) The aphorisms of Mao Zedong "“Don’t fight unsure wars, and don’t fight unprepared battles.” shows the difference between Xi and Putin that we are seeing right now.

RETHINKING - OCTOBER 12TH, 2022 - COMMUNIST CHINESE CONGRESS

Today, The Wall Street Journal posted a special column about the current congress of the Chinese Communist Party.

The column written by Kevin Rudd was titled "Security, Not Growth, Is Xi’s Focus."

Mr. Rudd starts saying that Mr. Xi "is likely to rebalance Beijing’s strategic priorities at next week’s 20th Party Congress."

"The National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, held every five years, formally appoints the 25-member Politburo and its seven-member standing committee. The names of those elevated to senior positions have been of deep significance to China watchers since 1982, when Deng Xiaoping launched the era of 'reform and opening.'”

"The 20th Congress, which gets under way Oct. 16, will be different. There’s only one appointment that matters now: Xi Jinping, China’s Chairman of Everything. The delegates will reappoint Mr. Xi to a third five-year term as general secretary by a vote of 2,296 to 0. "

MY OPINION

My opinion posted in the blogger section of the WSJ Online for the community members.

1) In international politics, the Chinese government is synonymous with the Chinese Communist Party.

2) President Xi is today the top leader of China. The dissidents are in jail or dead.

3) Communists educate kids to be communists. They carve their brains with communist prototypes. (This last opinion was answering to another member of the WSJ Community who believes that not everybody in power is communist.)

RETHINKING - OCTOBER 6, 2022 - PUTIN'S MIND

Today, October 6th, 2022, The Wall Street Journal published an interesting article about the possible thinking of President Putin about the next steps in the Ukraine's war.

The title of the column is "The Question on Putin’s Mind: Would We Risk New York to Keep Odessa Free?" By Walter Russell Mead.

Mr. Mead wrote that is possible the Russian leader is thinking to bomb an American city if the United States continue supporting Ukraine with heavy weapons and military intelligence.

The WSJ columnist says that Putin is trying to generate fear in the Western allies with the threat of nuclear weapons.

My opinion comment posted in the blog section of WSJ Online received the approval of other members of the community..

This was my comment: "The invasion of Ukraine showed that Mr. Putin made a wrong calculation. Probably, he will continue making wrong calculations. But in this case, Moscow will not be a safe place either. The risks are for both sides. Is Putin a suicide?"
