RETHINKING - October 14, 2021 - Emigration from West Coast

The Wall Street Journal in the opinion column titled “Who Wants to Stay on the West Coast? written by James Freeman talks about a phenomenon that affects the states of the West Coast in current days.

Mr. Freeman comments that Tesla is moving its headquarters out of Silicon Valley. He also said that crime waves are growing in Portland (Oregon) and Seattle (Washington State).

About Tesla, Freeman says this vehicle maker of high technology “ is moving its headquarters to Austin, Texas, cementing Chief Executive Elon Musk’s commitment to the Lone Star State and adding to a handful of Silicon Valley companies that have relocated there."

"Mr. Musk announced the move from Tesla’s Austin-area factory, which the company began building last year and where it held its annual shareholder meeting Thursday."

As we know, the Tesla initiative is not new in the technology industry, other companies of the sector moved facilities to Idaho and other states due to the costs of the homes for workers in California and the state taxes for the corporations. The cost is high and throughout the country there are other alternatives that are affordable.
