IBM is walking into new horizons of computer systems. The technology company that in other times was the leader of the mainframes, now is developing quantum processors.
IBM, Google and others started to research quantum computing several years ago, looking for the development of machines that can process very complex scientific experiments that are nearly impossible to process in the computers of processors of binary bits.
Quantum computing works with a new concept of bits, the quantum bit or qubit.
According to TechRepublic, in recent days, IBM unveiled a new quantum processor – the Eagle- that processes 127 qubits.
The computer maker started in 2019 with the 27-qubit Falcon processor. After that, in 2020, it developed the 65-qubit Hummingbird processor.
Eagle –the new quantum processor - will allow users to solve very complex experiments that never before the classic processors solved.
As we see, every day somebody is pushing the barriers of the computing systems to new levels that seem impossible to achieve.
