#WR: Will #COVID19 kill independent newspapers? @WSJ said: “Facebook is pledging $100 million in grant money and promised ad spending to help struggling news outlets weather the financial blow of the coronavirus outbreak.” If giants put money in small papers, independence ends!!!
#WR: From @WSJ to reread: “News outlets—particularly smaller, local newspapers—face substantial advertising revenue declines as shuttered or disrupted businesses pull back spending." As we know, independent newspapers without own resources, cannot pay good #journalists. #COVID19
The comments about the Facebook's initiative to put $100 million in news outlets was posted in a column of @WSJ titled “Facebook Pledges $100 Million for
News Outlets Hit by Coronavirus Outbreak” written by By Lukas I. Alpert and

It is important to remark that when media giants invest money in small publications and pay directly or indirectly journalists and analyst/writers, they put conditions in the subjects to post and in the sources of these news, columns, articles or stories. This is a way to kill independent newspapers.
We were observing this phenomena since before the COVID-19 crisis, in the reading of newspapers like Miami Herald and other similar local publications across the United. States.
