RETHINKING - August 7, 2021 - Afghanistan's Dreams

The last few news are ending with the dreams of a modern democratic country for Afghanistan are ending very fast.

The Wall Street Journal posted "Taliban fighters seized the capital of northern Afghanistan’s Jowzjan province Saturday, the second such provincial center to fall to the insurgency in two days, as the U.S. Embassy advised American citizens to leave the country immediately."

"The fall of the city of Sheberghan is particularly important because Jowzjan has long been the traditional stronghold of ethnic Uzbek warlord Abdul Rashid Dostum, one of the country’s main anti-Taliban leaders who served as Afghanistan’s vice president until last year."

This news is also remembering the fall of Saigon long decades ago. The American citizens and friends of the United States have to leave the country before the Taliban fighters capture Kabul or where they live.

Despite the efforts of the allies, the Afghan government and troops didn't learn to defend themselves from an old enemy, the Taliban

Lost time for the United States and the countries that supported it in the Afghan war.
