In the current days, all the media are talking about Simone Biles, an Olympic American gymnast that only won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Summer Games after the frustration of leaving a previous competition due to physical and mental barriers.
After she left one of the competitions that she won in the previous Olympic Games, Simone - a fairy tale's athlete - explained that she did not participate due to symptoms that she had.
I have never competed in this kind of games; however, I have been a strong swimmer since I was very young. But I never had sponsors to compete at a high level. Nonetheless from my own practice I learned that in the sports there are "barriers" that the own body of an athlete puts in a determined moment to achieve new higher goals.
Due to my own experience, I wrote in a WSJ BLOG pages this opinion:
" Frequently, the athletes have a short life cycle in the cusp. And when they cannot compete in the star's world, they have to return to the ground."
Important: Some members of the WSJ BLOG appreciated my opinion.
