Dear Friends:
This Thursday, when
the special Congress commission working in the new tax code bill was finishing
its job, Senator Marco Rubio put a serious warning. He said I will not vote for
the bill if the final version doesn’t expand the child tax credit.
The gamesmanship to
using the called “eleventh hour” strategy helped Mr. Rubio to earn in an easy
way what he wanted.
It is sure that
Senator Rubio didn't put his demand before to avoid long debates and strong
hurdles.
He used the tactic
of the “eleventh hour” because he knew that in the last moment the Republican
colleagues had to agree in exchange of his vote.
Before a lot of
other senators could argue that the child tax credit is not economic good and
it benefits to families of immigrants.
He also is a child
of immigrants and he knows what this kind of concession means for a family of
workers who are fighting to live with the last coins to the next monthly
salary.
The problem is that his
gamesmanship puts in evidence that he is trying to protect non-native
Americans.
And here we are
again in front of the big dilemma of the immigration. Probably, some of the
families who will receive the benefit are non legal immigrants. This put very furious
to the groups who pursue massive deportation of foreign people without legal
status.
In summary, the
tactic of the “eleventh hour” gave an important immediate victory to Marco
Rubio, but probably this victory will be a huge hurdle if he pretends again to
run for president.
If we read the blog
comments of the stories posted in the newspapers between Thursday and today
Saturday, we perceive a heavy negative reaction against the Marco Rubio's
movement of the last moment. Some of these people titled Marco Rubio in with
the expression “Little Marco”.
After more than two
thousand years of the Jesus parable named as the Parable of the Generous
Employer or the Workers in the Vineyard, the proverb of “The Eleventh Hour”
shows that the concessions of the last moment of the Congress commission put
mad to the Americans that don't want the children of the immigrants can enjoy
the same that their children.

We can agree or
disagree with Marco Rubio, but the important point of his victory is his
action showed that the lawmakers must to defend their positions instead of
answer: “Amen!” to the demand of the leaders.
