#WR: Do you know that some students had problems in the return to the online school? According to
@WSJ, Zoom Video Communications registered an outage of its system for several hours Monday. After that, it was fixed. This is a warning to consider!!! #Zoom #outage #videoconference
#WR: From @WSJ: "Monday’s outage came at a time when many schools are resorting to fully remote classes after initially planning to reopen due to concerns about the #coronavirus, including the University of Notre Dame and Michigan State University." #Zoom #videoconference #outage
#WR: From @WSJ about Zoom's outage: "The outage was significant given #Zoom’s large user base, which has grown dramatically since the start of the pandemic. Daily meeting participants reached a peak of 300 million in April, up from 10 million before the pandemic." #technology
The outage of the Zoom system is a warning about the possible limits of the technology if the base of users and the applications continue growing. Other video conference platforms can suffer similar problems.
Technology is a great tool for human activities, but it is not the magical solution of huge "human shakes" like the pandemic of COVID-19.
