RETHINKING - DECEMBER 29, 2021 - ELDER ABUSE

The WSJ posted an extensive story about the abuse against elder titled “Elder Abuse Spreads, Stoked by the Pandemic”.

The story written by Clare Ansberry started with the following statement: “Older Americans are falling victim to fraud, physical violence and neglect as family isolation and staffing shortages erode safeguards.”

My first blog comment about this subject was: “We are living in a moment, when a lot of youngsters consider the elders have not right to continue living.”

This comment immediately generated good reactions from readers, and it received 13 points “likes” or approbation.

However, a young reader didn't like it. And he wrote that young people don’t have to care for elder, obese and people who don’t effort to maintain healthy.

Next, I posted a new blog comment that says “You cannot put in the same basket:

- normal elders

- obese people

- people who have not done anything for themselves.

The normal elders are very different from obese people and the negligent peoples about their health."

And the arrogant youngsters don’t have experience about the sickness of the elderly and how the people feel at that moment.

Everybody including very healthy individuals when they grow old see that the body declines after the sixty birthdays. And it is very difficult for an elder to re-educate himself or herself to the new conditions of the current social jungle.
