#WR: The U.S. and China return to the person meetings in Alaska. Will something change from previous talks? Secretary of State Antony Blinken and China's foreign minister have a heavy agenda. But it doesn’t include #tech and military issues. Chinese asked the US for the talks.
According to The Wall Street Journal, "Top U.S. and Chinese officials will hold two days of talks next week in Alaska, the first in-person meeting between senior representatives of the two countries since President Biden took office, a senior administration official said."
"“The goal will be to compare notes on what each of our hopes and plans are for domestic politics, what our goals are internationally, regionally and globally,” the official said. Topics will include the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, and issues of disagreement including China’s stance on Hong Kong and pressure on Taiwan..."
From my perspective as an analyst, I have to remark that China is making every day more pressure about its "rights" on Taiwan. If the United States doesn't react in time, China will take the island-state that is a paradise of the western technology at only miles the continental Chinese territory. We - the United States - and Europe are depending on the huge factories of semiconductors of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
China continues to focus on its main goals, while we discuss lost time in other issues.
