BLOG COMMENTS - MARCH 18, 2016

Dear Friends:

I would like to share with you a “summary” of recent news and the comments posted by myself in the WSJ Journal Community about headlines of the Wall Street Journal from March 9 to March 18.

The comments are about politics (American presidential campaign, German elections, Brazilian crisis…), economy, business, social issues, technology and other subjects in the United States, Europe and the world.

As you can see for the RECOMMENDATIONS, the majority of these comments generated a good reaction of other members of the Journal Community.

Important: Some of the comments were rewritten according to the summary of news.

BLOG COMMENTS: 2016/02/29 - 016/03/09

MY COMMENT: As I always remark, Dow Industrials never declines for long period. The gloomy cycles of Wall Street have good ends.
03/17/2016 06:31:37 PM 1 Recommendation

This story comments that the Paris Bistro devastated by the ISIS attack is re-opening its doors now.

MY COMMENT: Surely, “La Belle Equipe” will be a new stop of the tours of the tourists that come to Paris.
03/17/2016 06:26:37 PM 1 Recommendation

This story says that Donald Trump is warning about ‘riots’ if the Republican leaders refuse to nominate him as GOP candidate.

MY COMMENT: Donald Trump has all the “machinery” to destroy the last hurdles that remain in the Republican Party against him. He is working to rename the GOP as Trump Party.

MY FIRST COMMENT: It is evident that with the Russian friendship, Iran cans become a military power.

The decision of Russia to refuse sanctions against Iran for its latest ballistic-missile tests shows again that the Obama Administration was wrong when it signed the Iranian nuclear deal.
03/17/2016 06:10:36 PM 3 Recommendations

MY SECOND COMMENT ANSWERING TO ANOTHER JOURNAL MEMBER: It was a capitulation to the enemy, something that the military laws castigate with hard punishment.

Posted In The 10-Point:  About "Supreme Showdown":
The daily summary of news of Wall Street Journal posted a chapter about the Justice nominee of President Obama and the first reactions of Republican Senators.

MY COMMENT: The negative reaction of the Republican Senators about the Justice nominee of President Obama can become a double-edged sword. They have to act a balanced way.

Some independent observers think the current Republican Congress is the Congress of the “NO”. This is a bad political image in a year of presidential elections.
03/17/2016 04:10:27 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: In the current times, the “depressed employment” forces us to work for less than our efforts and background value.
03/17/2016 03:56:18 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: The news says “Kerry determines Islamic State is committing genocide”.

I believe that everybody who has human blood has to think the same.

The ISIS militants kill for the pleasure to see the corpses of their enemies and innocent people covered by the blood of the humiliation.

MY COMMENT: According to the results of some opinion researches, 41% of Republican Ohioans and 37% of Floridians think “Mr. Trump has run the most unfair campaign of the candidates.”

The pending question is why they are voting him.
03/17/2016 02:26:42 PM 1 Recommendation

Posted In The 10-Point: About the Marco Rubio defeat.

MY COMMENT: The Trump’s victory in Florida was facilitated by a strategy with weak points of the Senator Rubio.

It looks like Marco Rubio was thinking that Florida is only the Florida of the Cuban Americans that dominates the minds of South Florida.

However, the north and center of Florida are different. These Floridians voted against him.
03/16/2016 08:15:02 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: Really a “monster” like the mass killer Anders Behring Breivik deserves to die.

He killed innocent young people for his extreme ideology and he never apologized for his horrendous crime.
03/16/2016 08:08:37 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: Maybe the economists who suspect Fed will raise rates in June are right.

We don’t know what the Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen has in her mind till now.
03/16/2016 08:02:51 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: Judge Merrick Garland, a potential Supreme Court nominee selected by President Obama is is white, male, Jewish and from Chicago. Scalia was white, male and Catholic.

If Judge Merrick Garland is elected, he will be the third Jew in the Supreme Court and a new liberal in the former seat of a conservative.

This story talks about the U.S. student who went to North Korea and made some wrong steps.

MY COMMENT: This U.S. college student was stupid. Everybody knows that in Communist regime, you don't have to put your nose in the wrong place.

MY COMMENT: If the Republicans in Congress have to follow President Trump in all, they will lose the identity of Republicans.
03/16/2016 05:20:36 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: Everyone is growing in cloud computing. This is not a merit of Oracle.

MY COMMENT: Amazon is strong in cloud computing and it is using its own technological experience for others.

MY COMMENT: The terror is coming to the Berlin streets. This is a serious warning that Germany and Europe have to consider carefully.

The "human trash" that entered to Europe mixed with the migrants has to be deported.

No more tolerant with the devils that come to the West with "faces" of poor people!

MY COMMENT: The news says that GM and others plan to launch self-driving vehicles to the market with an approximately value of $20,000 per unit.

Important question: Who will be the responsible of the accidents of the self-driving vehicles: the car maker or the driver? (Several days ago, we knew that the self-driving car of Google bumped a bus in a normal street).
03/14/2016 07:59:20 PM 3 Recommendations

MY COMMENT: President Putin said Russian forces will start the Syria withdrawal because the main mission has been accomplished. This argument doesn’t look true.

Probably, the real reason is economic and impossibility to charge costs to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

MY FIRST COMMENT: Fantasy or not, Paul Ryan can be a very good Republican candidate to win the presidential election.
03/14/2016 03:25:05 PM 6 Recommendations

MY SECOND COMMENT ANSWERING TO ANOTHER JOURNAL MEMBER: Paul Ryan is the "best card" the Republicans have to win in November against Hillary Clinton (or Bernie Sanders).

Paul Ryan is a politician with very good roots and with experience in key issues the new president has to manage immediately next year. Also he has the capability to unify, one of the serious weakness of the other candidates.

MY COMMENT:  If we analyze the behavior of the German political environment, we have to affirm that the current popularity of AfD doesn't imply a total defeat of the big German parties.

Always, CDU and SPD find the way to recover themselves from their defeats. Both parties had other important falls before.

Independently of all, the victory of AfD is a serious warning for the current national government coalition - CDU, SPD and CSU.

MY FIRST COMMENT: AR, augmented reality, looks like it will be a new “tech component” of the digital world of next decades. Its impact will be not immediately
Frequently, some technologies need time to consolidate in the digital environment.
For example, the first projects of Internet-phone devices were to the “grave” without glory in short time.
03/14/2016 10:29:43 AM 1 Recommendation

MY SECOND COMMENT ANSWERING TO ANOTHER JOURNAL MEMBER: This new technology is motivating exciting comments from tech fans. Its name is "augmented reality".

The "augmented reality" can act like an intelligent extension of your eyes, but till now we don't know all the pros and cons of this technology. We have to observe, analyze and see its evolution.

Sometimes, a technology helps in the right way. In other cases, it generates new problems.

MY COMMENT: The journalist of the Wall Street Journal who followed the German election wrote about the results of the voting in different states without a deep knowledge of the political environment of this European country.

The important point is that if we read the news posted for the German media (DW), we see that in the first case of the Wall Street Journal’ story - Saxony-Anhalt –  the hard punishment was against SPD, Socialist Democratic Party, and partner of the current government coalition.

The title of the Wall Street Journal story looks like the strike was only against Angela Merkel.

Here I am rewriting my comment posted in TWITTER for the DW publication: “Domingo Trassens @trassens 2h @dw_germany “The victory of AfD was really impressive in Saxony-Anahalt,, where AfD won 24.2 percent. But in this state, the victim was SPD.

In Saxony-Anahalt, the hard punishment was against SPD (10.5%). CDU, the Merkel’s party, won 30.0% and AfD 24.2%.”

In summary, the punishment was divided. In some states CDU felt the first impact. In others cases, SPD - member of the government coalition - was the first victim.

This story makes a summary of the famous litigation cases of Donald Trump.

MY FIRST COMMENT: Litigation, confrontation and intimation are tools to grow in front rivals with fears. When a bully attacks you have to react with his same tools.

MY SECOND COMMENT ANSWERING TO ANOTHER JOURNAL MEMBER: Trump's reputation for using court system for business interests is bad, but his followers don't care.
03/14/2016 02:55:00 AM 3 Recommendations

This story was published before the defeat of Marco Rubio in Florida.

MY COMMENT: The Republican battle for Florida was a fight of the humble army of Rubio followers against the huge marketing apparatus of Donald Trump.

This story says that Yahoo named new directors with the intention to redefine its business. The crucial point is the current management of the Internet provider wants to sell the “core business” of the company.

MY COMMENT: If Yahoo sells its core business, Yahoo will be not more Yahoo.

Its name will pass to the Tech History as the Internet company defeated by Google. Another loser!

MY COMMENT: The Brazilians like to make noisy protests, but when they have elections they don’t reflect their anger in the same way.

Before the last presidential election, a lot of people were to the street shouting against President Dilma Rousseff. After that, the voting gave her a second term as president of country.

Now, the protesters returned to the street complaining against the Brazilian government and the President Dilma Rousseff. What will be the next?

MY COMMENT: College students can offer fresh ideas about monetary policy, but they have also a lot to learn from the experience of the Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen.

MY COMMENT: The cloud computing is like a “sea” where a lot “ships” full of data navigate through.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM and Microsoft have tools and experts to analyze the cloud traffic and the “data ships” and generate new services.

MY COMMENT: The news says “U.S. and EU press Libyans for unity against Islamic State”.
The only way to unify the Libyans is following a strong leader, maybe a new dictator.

MY COMMENT: It is evident that the endorsement of Ben Carson is not free. It has a “price”. He wants to be the Number 2 of Donald Trump.

How many want to be the new partner of Trump?

This story was posted before Marco Rubio lost the Florida election and announced that he is leaving the presidential race.

MY COMMENT: The math of the polls doesn’t show a good future for Marco Rubio. He is second in Florida and fourth in Illinois and Ohio.

This story was posted before the last Sunday election in some German states.

MY COMMENT: During the last decade, Angela Merkel was the only German politician leader who went ahead despite a series of crises. However, her migration politics doesn't close well.

MY COMMENT: Ted Cruz has friends and also hard enemies. He has to build big “bridges” to joint the Republicans who want important changes but they have fears about his temperament and reactions.

MY COMMENT: The statement of John Kasich saying that Mr.Trump has created 'toxic' environment in the wake of Chicago protests is right, but the Trump followers don't care.

The story says that Burger King is returning to its classic food menus.

MY COMMENT: Burger King learned an important lesson: When you want to change your identity, you lose your business.

MY FIRST COMMENT: Now it is late to talk about the Germanwings co-pilot had to be hospitalized according the opinion of a doctor.

It is evident that who knew the co-pilot needed a medical treatment and didn't act, was negligent.

Frequently negligence is the cause of big disasters.

MY COMMENT: The Islamic State is not tied to international conventions about chemical agents. It will use all the resources it needs to destroy the enemies and gain ground.

This story comments the development of a robotic exoskeleton for the people who have mobility problems.

MY COMMENT: Robotic Exoskeleton is a good application of robotics to improve the way of living of people with serious diseases or victims of accidents.

The bad side of the motorized leg is the high cost. Frequently, the people with disability don’t have economic resources to afford the cost of $80,000 for each device.

And the popular medical insurances try to avoid the assistance of patients who need expensive treatments or medical devices.
03/11/2016 05:52:01 PM 1 Recommendation

MY COMMENT: The auto makers that want to continue in the leadership of the market need advanced technologies. Cruise Automation can help new GM's developments and its competition with German makers like BMW and Mercedes Benz among others.

MY COMMENT: We -the Western citizens- can have humanitarian feelings for the migrants who come from the Middle-East, Asia and Africa. However the migration has to be selective if we don’t want to destroy our identity, our roots and our economy.

The fliers of “Enough!” that Matthias Leupold , a German 51-year-old traveling salesman, distributes across the streets of Lutherstadt Witternberg show a natural reaction of the normal people of a country who knows very well what is hospitality.

MY COMMENT: Every time that we have presidential elections, we feel economic uncertainty because normally each new president makes changes on economic issues.

In this case, the uncertainty is big because Trump and Sanders have extreme ideas about social and economic key subjects.
