RETHINKING - October 25, 2021 - Republicans Future

The Wall Street Journal posted an opinion column titled "GOP Has a Chance at More Than Election Victory" by Gerard Baker, former WSJ editor.

After a series of columns criticizing President Biden and with some good opinions about Trump's presidency, in his last column, Mr. Baker wrote the GOP needs a presidential candidate who: "could break America’s political stalemate by looking forward not back to Trump or Reagan."

From my point of view, both parties - Republicans and Democrats - have to change the totally negative attitude to the opposition and look for common points with the members of the same party.

This was my blog-comment in the bottom of Gerard Baker's column: "Republicans need a candidate that unites all the Republicans and gains independent voters."

RETHINKING - October 23, 2021 - Will the United States come to the aid of Taiwan?

At this moment, after the bad withdrawal from Afghanistan, the political and defense analysts are questioning if The United States would come to the aid of Taiwan, if China invades the island.

In recent weeks, we commented on a series of opinion columns from the Wall Street Journal about this issue.

Here, we also can read an opinion column from the New York Times about the crucial issue titled: "Biden Said the U.S. Would Protect Taiwan. But It’s Not That Clear-Cut." by David E. Sanger.

The columnist of New York Times says 'The American policy — called “strategic ambiguity” because it leaves vague exactly how the United States would react — does not lend itself to a tough-sounding response. So the White House was quick to declare that American policy had not changed after President Biden was asked at a CNN town hall event on Thursday night whether the United States would protect Taiwan and he said, “Yes, we have a commitment to do that.”'

After a series of observations about the recent declarations of President Biden, the columnist concludes that till now we don't know if the United States really will support Taiwan independence.

RETHINKING - October 22, 2021 - US Defense Department

In a column titled “The Distracted Defense Department” written by Nadia Schadlow, the Wall Street Journal criticizes the current focus of the U.S. Defense Department.

It says that “Pentagon leaders wasted time and resources developing a climate strategy" that was released this month.

The warning of WSJ remarks that meanwhile China is spreading its threat against Taiwan.

WSJ adds:  “The Chinese Communist Party, unlike climate change and Covid-19, is an opponent that makes choices to advance its goals. That is why defense experts consider China a “pacing threat.” China has modernized its armed forces to deny others access to the island chain running from Japan through Taiwan down to Singapore. This makes it more difficult for the U.S. military to project power in the area. In recent months, China has sent dozens of aircraft into Taiwan’s air-defense identification zone. It has developed weapons systems, such as hypersonic missiles and cyber capabilities, and is expanding its nuclear arsenal.”

In my opinion, it looks like the US Defense Department is losing time and resources in issues of other government departments.

RETHINKING - October 20, 2021 - From Terrorist to Police Chief

From Terrorist to Police Chief: This is the case of one of the members of the Taliban squads. The Wall Street Journal says that “Mawlawi Zubair Mutmaeen used to run Taliban suicide-bombing squads in Kabul." And now he is a police chief for one of the Afghan capital’s districts.

Can you believe that a terrorist has the profile to be a police chief?

A devil who was making terror and killing people, in my point of view, never will be a man with an ethical attitude to protect the normal people against crimes and work in the direction to  put order in city streets and neighborhoods.

In the chaos of Afghanistan after the departure of the American troops all looks possible. But this is not the only case, that a devil becomes top authority of government institutions. In Uruguay, one of the Tuparamos terrorist became president of the country.

RETHINKING - October 20, 2021 - The Principles of Mr. Zuckerberg

After the whistle-blower testimony on Capitol Hill, Facebook is on the accusation bench for its practices and the negative effects of tools like Instagram on teen girls.

The Wall Street Journal talked a lot about this subject in the last few weeks. Now, also The New York Times is posting interesting opinion columns about Facebook and its co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

In one of the NYT opinion columns, a former WSJ journalist - Mossberg – makes serious accusations against Mr. Zuckerberg.

Mossberg says, “In my encounters with Mark Zuckerberg, I’ve never been able to discover any principles.”

If we believe in the sincerity of the opinion of the former WSJ journalist, we can conclude that Facebook and its products are very dangerous tools that can kill the psyche of young generations of people without the capability to perceive where the evil is behind the colorful pages of the Internet and its screens. Be careful!

Opinion | China’s Hypersonic Wake-Up Call

I don't believe that the Chinese made checkmate to us till now. However, they will do, if Washington doesn't focus on winning Taiwan's battle. The assault on Taiwan has to become a horrible defeat for China's President Xi.

Opinion | Hong Kong Is Erasing the Tiananmen Square Massacre

“The Pillar of Shame” is a good sample of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. This is how the Chinese Communists act against the people who claim freedom. The authorities don't want to show the truth about the regime in the university environment.

Opinion | President Sanders Uses His Veto

The Editorial opinion of the Wall Street Journal titled "President Sanders Use His Veto" shows how the Senator from Vermont is manipulating Capitol Hill and Biden's White House today. "President Sanders" will end the American spirit and the good entrepreneur initiatives and will open the door to illegals coming to the United States to steal our wealth.
