Today, The Wall Street Journal published two stories about the tanks NATO will send to Ukraine.
The first story was about the U.S. and the decision to send the Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian battlefield.
The second story and a series of opinion columns of the last few days are related to the negotiation with Germany to deliver the famous Leopard 2.
From the other side, Deutsche Welle in its international English version is talking about the controversial operation about the German tanks.
In Germany and other European countries, the common thinking is that the Leopard 2 will be the excuse of President Putin to start a massive war with the NATO countries.
According to the analysis of European observers, Russia is preparing a big new invasion of Ukraine in the spring. For this reason, the Western allies want to prepare the Ukrainians with advanced and heavy weapons.
If all the negotiations between the U.S. and Germany end with the final decision to send approximately 100 modern tanks to Ukraine the soldiers of this country will be trained in Germany.
The Germans who don't want the sending of the Leopard to Ukraine say that this movement will be the start of WW III.

RETHINKING - JANUARY 19TH, 2023 - AMERICAN COST OF UKRAINIAN WAR
On January 18, 2023, The Wall Street Journal published a comment column written by Vitali Klitschko, former world boxing champion and current Kyiv’s Mayor about the Ukrainian-Russian war.
The title of the column is “Ukrainian Victory Against Russia Would Be Great for America”.
In the first paragraph Mr. Klitschko wrote “Continued military and humanitarian support will end the war sooner and boost the global economy.”
Next, the Mayor of Kyiv showed gratitude for the $25 billion in “security assistance” and military and humanitarian support Ukraine received from the U.S.; mentioning a series of advanced weapons Washington provided to Putin's enemy.
In the second part of the column, Mr. Vitali Klitschko asks for more weapons and special anti-missile systems.
After reading the column, I wrote a comment in the blog section of the WSJ Online that received a series of approval votes from other members of the WSJ Community.
This was my blog comment: “Ukraine is not part of the American territory. And till now, the Ukraine's war is very costly for the United States. Meanwhile, the results of the effort are uncertain.”
