Dear Friends:
On Saturday January
20, America was shaken again with a new shutdown of the
federal institutions due to disagreement about the funding of the U.S. government.
The crash became due to Democratic Senators wanted to
include the “immigration package” in the potential agreement about the funds.
Till now, there is not resolution about DACA and the other
issues related to illegal immigrants.
The debate about immigration is in a swamp and its inclusion
in the Senate negotiation for the current funds of the federal government
generated the collapse of the conversations.
Before the deadline, Republicans and Democrats started the
game of blaming the other party, and no agreement came in time.
Republicans knew about the problem that DACA would create to
agree about the funds of the government, but they didn't try to avoid the crash
before the shutdown.
Democrats used similar tactics to that Republican Senator Ted
Cruz used in 2013 to try to repeal ObamaCare.
We are living a moment when the division among different
political groups is cracking the country in different parts.
Now, it is not only a fight between Republicans and
Democrats. In the GOP side, there are marked differences among two or more sectors.
We saw this situation during a series of Congress voting during 2017.
And in the Democrat side, the moderate lawmakers are also
distant from the reactions of the extreme left-wing politicians.
Additionally, in between the Dems there is not a clear-minded
leader with brilliant and positive ideas to move the party forward.
In the Senate, the chief of the Minority, Senator Schumer
till now didn't show the smart leadership the party expected from him. He
pushes the waves without a clear direction.
Democrats are anxious to mark each mistake of President
Trump, and use it as argument against the current administration.
Some of the members of the Democratic House are trying to
promote a trial for the impeachment of the President.
Donald Trump has a controversial personality; however at
least till now there are not enough legal proofs to show that he didn't respect
the mandate the Constitution gives to the U.S. President.
An impeachment is costly and it will damage more the
relationships among the government institutions; but who cares?
Under the “blame game”, everybody accuses the others, and
the wounds of the society are extending.
In Twitter and also in blogs associated to political digital
media, it is possible to see the aggressions of the defenders and enemies of
Donald Trump post when they disagree with the author of a political comment.
Without solid arguments they offend to everybody who they believe think
different from them.
There are people who navigate through the social media only
to express hate and try to intimidate who think different. The worst human
trash flows out from their tongues.
Today, America
is a cracked country.
